FLAT TUMMY

SUPERFOOD BURCHA

The name ‘Bircher’ comes from a man named Maximilian Oskar Bircher Benny, he invented the original Bircher recipe back in 1879 and was a pioneer nutritionist standing up for his beliefs on raw foods and spreading self-healing message. What a legend! Fast forward 120 years into the future there was me, Loni Jane sharing his legacy and putting my own spin on his amazing creation and sharing it with tens of thousands of people! Crazy huh. I hope Bircher-Benny is proud.

The changes I made to Bircher-Benny’s original recipe is taking away the oats and the cows milk and adding superfoods such as hemp seeds, chia seeds, and cacao to name a few. I took out the oats due to the fact that I already eat enough oats as it is and my sensitive gut can get a little upset at me if I consume too many oats, so I just stick to my Rawnola and porridge from time to keep the balance in check.

WHY DO I CALL IT FLAT TUMMY BURCHA?? Well, I have noticed how well my body (body meaning, digestion, energy, mood and physical) has responded to seeds such as chia, hemp, sunflower, pumpkin, flax, and sesame. I have been having this Superfood Burcha for around a week every morning and I just feel as though I’m losing weight but in a good way and my energy is stable and high, it’s actually taking off my ‘winter coat’ haha, the extra water weight from the higher salt and fat intake while I was severely sleep deprived and stressed over the last few months. Having this for breakfast keeps me completely satisfied until lunch time and I understand it is because of the amount of fibre and very high in nutrient content this recipe contains.

I might seem like I’m raving on about this Burcha but seriously I want to share this info and my experience because it has been so positive and simple and I want others to reap the benefits of this too and that’s all I ever really want, is others to find some type of happiness in what I share and to help them on their health journey, because finding ways to optimal health is not always straight forward for many people especially when there is so much miss information or forced information in mainstream media these days.

Anyway enough ranting.. here is the recipe. Please try it and let me know what you think! If you feel like this really helps your digestion, getting a flat belly, burning fat, decreasing bloating, improve energy then I want to hear about it! So message me on Instagram or leave a comment on the Burcha photo on my account @lonijane

HOT TIP – get all the ingredients for the Superfood Burcha from your local bulk food store, and if you’re in Australia go to The Source bulk foods they have 41 stores across oz!

ANOTHER HOT TIP – Soaking the seeds overnight ‘activates’ them, meaning it begins the germination process that helps break down the phytic acid (which is the acid that coats the seeds so they don’t turn into sprouts/plants when stored dry) and also enzyme inhibitors which the body can struggle to break down. So soaking the seeds overnight makes the nutrients a lot more readily available and actually increases their nutritional value and plus they go super soft👏. Win win. I like to soak my Superfood Burcha in almond milk and coconut yogurt overnight with frozen blueberries so in the morning I just grab the jar out of the fridge and go! and don’t limit this to breakfast either you can have this for any meal of the day and it’s an awesome post workout meal too.

FLAT TUMMY SUPERFOOD BURCHA MIX (dry bulk mix)

1/4 cup flax seeds

1/2 cup sesame seeds

1/2 cup sunflower seeds

1/2 cup chia seeds

1/2 cup shredded coconut

1/2 cup cacao nibs

1/2 cup pumpkin seeds

1/2 cup hemp seeds

1/4 cup sultanas

1/2 cup diced dried mango

1/4 cup activated buckwheat (can substitute for oats, puffed rice or quinoa or leave it out)

This recipe is very versatile meaning its easy to substitute with other ingredients if you can’t get your hands on something or don’t have it at home, it is also very versatile in the fact that you can eat it many different ways, you can have it with milk fresh or soaked (although it does digest better when soaked), you can have it with fresh fruit, add it to your porridge, put it on acai bowls, with yogurt, frozen berries or warmed berries, you get my drift hey 🙂

  1. Dice sultanas and dried mango (or use a blender or food processor and pulse until they are in small pieces).
  2. Add all measured ingredients into a large mixing bowl, mix well then funnel into a glass jar and store in the pantry or fridge.
  3. Sprinkle seeds onto smoothie bowls, acai, smoothies, Rawnola cereal, ice cream. Or soak seeds overnight for a yummy Burcha yogurt. Check out many other bulk recipes like this in my new 2019 Feel the Lean ‘Recipes’ ebook here!
